Section 420.1 regarding Bicycles and Coaster Toys

I didn't know we in TC were required to have our bicycle or coaster toys licensed. Anyone know about this? Never heard of it enforced.

420.01 LICENSE REQUIRED; DISPLAY; FEE.
No person shall ride or propel by muscular power any bicycle on any street, alley or public place, unless such bicycle has been licensed and unless the required license is attached so that it is clearly visible. A fee as determined from time to time by the City Commission shall be charged for each license issued or upon a change of ownership.

Yup. Pretty much unenforceable...or not much ever enforced. Bike licenses are great ideas, however they should not cost anything. Pretty ridiculous. I've only seen a handful in total of these stickers on bikes. Can't imagine my friends with their $7000 carbon fiber star trek bikes voiding the warranty with one of these.

On the other hand, it does create a record of bikes in the event of theft. Most places do it this way now. All new bikes sold within city limits must have a license before they go out the door. It shares responsibility with the bike shop, and ensures the records get kept. Just like a new car.

Yes, I was aware of this. It is not enforced however. On the other hand, registration may help in vehicle recovery.
