NM Used bikes/parts

Hey guys, I'm new to the group but not northern MI. I go to school down in GR where we have a number of bike shops and one specifically with a huge selection of used stuff. Its set up almost like a bicycle junk yard where you're free to bring your tools and take what you need...then you just ask em what they want for it. I've only lived up north (Suttons Bay) for a few years now and haven't seen any shop with much to offer for used parts. I spend a lot of time tinkering with old bikes. Have I missed something? Is everyone up north too cool for used stuff? Where do you guys buy your used parts?

There is a small amount of used parts at the co-op usually, I think. Probably not exactly what you're referring to, but I'm sure some people find them handy. (This reminds me: does anyone know if those studded tires are still there and whose they are? I've been thinking of taking them for months.)

I don't think we're too cool for used parts, it's just that we're kinda sorta small-town. I would be all about a place to get used stuff, and I'm sure other people would be, too.

(Only related on that small-town note, but I was in K-zoo the other day and totally not impressed by the number of people I saw on bikes.)

Thanks for replying...the whole too cool thing was just a joke haha I feel like no one puts together old Frankenstein bikes anymore like I love to, everyone I see are on their $$$ bicycles in their spandex like they're Lance Armstrong (its definitely like that in EGR) (and not that I don't own a pair of those shorts and a jersey). I guess ebay is always around...even in the winter too haha. Sounds like I should check out this co-op, thanks.

Hey! i have been building frankenstein bikes all year. i think i have built or help build about 10 bikes this summer. there is a growing number of young folk getting there hands dirty, especially this year.
