Thanks for joining and for your comments Nils. I'm in Bozeman. Just settled in and out for a ride already. Two minutes into ride on a trail behind town, there's a sign that says "Warning! Mountain Lion in area.". Weeeeeeeeee
Bill talked to me about this project awhile ago so I'm here checking it out. I do feel comfortable riding in TC and it's citizens are courteous to riders but there is a serious need for the City Planner(s) to recognize and design safer roads for both both auto and bicycling use. It really is a poor design and if motorists weren't as friendly (like they are in other parts of the US) it would be a nightmare and people would get hurt.
So I hope that is where this goes... 1. People recognize that bicycles are vehicles and not toys. 2. Educate motorists how to drive with cyclists and for cyclists to ride in traffic correctly. 3. On the City Planning level, fix the streets, signs signs and more signs (especially in the "danger" areas and intersections in town) and to either design a bike lane system that is safe or get rid of it entirely.
