It would be cool if there were a set of public dirt jumps. I ride my fixie in the streets though, and I've never really had any trouble.
Actually, now that I think about it. There is a real lack of LBS camaraderie around here. I grew up with Freewheeler bike shop in GR and no matter who you are they'll bend over backwards to help you with whatever project. Brick is a showroom floor and nothing else. GT Cycle on Garfield is a good shop, and the gallery is pretty sweet for fixie stuff.
